Buying Penzeys spices -- any advice?

bigskulls | Feb 3, 2003 02:58 PM

I just noticed last night that I have a $50 gift certificate from Penzeys spices sitting on the shelf in my kitchen unspent. I looked through the catalogue when I first got it, but nothing really jumped out at me. $50 is a lot to spend on spices and I already live in NYC, so it's not like I don't have access to good ones already. Paying Dean and Deluca $7 for a tiny container of File Gumbo doesn't exactly blow my dress up (on the odd occasion that I wear one), so I could get more of that, but that's really all I can think of. I like making chile, but there are some pretty good mexican groceries right near my house.

So, what do or would you get there?
