Well, fellow hounds, we've decided to do something mad. We're skipping San Diego entirely, taking the severance EMusic has offered those who don't wish to continue, and going directly to our dream town, Paris, France!
We'll be there three months trying to find gainful employment. We'll return thereafter for a month or so (to process a work visa one must be outside France), then hopefully return permantently as productive worker-residents of the City of Lights.
We're excited and scared. We've never gone somewhere without a job waiting--we're gambling that our skills and energy will land us something, anything that lets us stay in Paris.
Move day is tentatively March 31, so we'd love to see you all for at least one more Chowhound gathering before then! Stay tuned to this board, we'll organize something, somehow, amid the chaos.
We're chasing a dream, risking everything we own and everything we are on the wings of chance. We owe some of that spirit to Chowhounds SF Bay Area--this board and the wonderful people here have inspired us to follow our chow-sense. It's the adventure of a lifetime!
We'll also post here periodically, where our discoveries and thoughts about Paris connect meaningfully with the SF Bay chow scene. We also appreciate any help anyone can give (any of you locals former Paris dwellers? Know any great places to live, stay, work? We'll treat you to dinner if you share your wisdom). PLEASE don't hesitate to contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Okay, thanks again, more news as it comes! We had dinner the other night for the first time at Harris's steak place on Van Ness--best steak dinner we've had in the Bay Area. Another great SF Chowhounds tip pays off!
