My husband and I are going to NYC for museums and shows the last weekend in January. We were hoping to take advantage of restaurant week, but, found out that restaurant week specials don't apply for Saturday, and may not apply for Sunday. So, are looking for suggestions for Friday nite near Billy Elliott, Sat brunch/lunch, Sat nite near 80 St, Marks Place(just west of First Ave), and Sunday brunch. We will be staying at the Omni Berkshire, arriving about 2 pm on Friday and leaving about 1 pm on Sunday from Penn station. Since this is an extra getaway squeezed in after the holidays, would prefer prix fixe or other means of bringing costs down. A lot of the lunch pre fixe that have been suggested on chowhound are only available Mon-Fri. Restaurant week listings are not yet posted, but, checked out the teaser article and the summer 2010 restaurant week listings. Riverpark, David Burke Townhouse, Le Cirque, Maialino, Cafe Boulud, Bouley, Alto all looked intriguing. Also checked out the michellin starred restaurants available on opentable--Shalezeh appealed but other hounds have said it was just so-so. We have some dietary restrictions (gluten free for me, milk products for hubbie). We plan to take public transportation, and would prefer to not have lengthy walks outdoors in case it is bitterly cold. Can you help us plan?
