Brown spots in pie crust

rlp | Nov 27, 201908:17 AM     7

I could use some trouble shooting for why my crust has brown spots. I followed a new recipe (bc pastry is my kryptonite and it never goes right). Ingredients were all-purpose flour, unsalted butter, salt, sugar, water. Quick blitz in food processor to incorporate butter, add water to form a ball. Roll out immediately, fit into pie dish and refrigerate until ready to make pie...for me, this ended up being overnight (wrapped in plastic). It looked normal going into the oven, but as it baked it got these brown spots that almost made it look like it used whole-wheat flour or something. I checked the flour for bugs and it looks fine. Any thoughts? I feel embarrassed serving it at Thanksgiving, but I don’t really have a choice.
