We went to Brigtsen's Friday evening because my fiancee had a busy weekend planned, hunting Saturday and the Stupor Bowl (snooze, snooze, SNORE!!) on Sunday.
For appetizers, the GIANT soft shell crab being off the menu now, I had the House Salad. Mr. Creature of Pattern had the Rabbit, Andouille File Gumbo ans sulked becasue I wanted a taste.
For entrees I had the Tournedos and creamed/mashed potatoes and he, as usual, had the Seafood Platter: which Friday was a nice filet of Drum with a topping of sauteed crawfish, a crawfish gratin in a large ramekin, two baked oysters (one may have been an Oyster Rockerfeller) with token sides of Crabmeat Ravigote and Ratatouille.
We finished by sharing the Fresh Berries in the Champagne Vanilla Sabayon accompanied by coffees, a Calvados for me and TWO Armagnacs for him.
I had not heard of the Twelfth Night special menu before this visit. Sorry, but I didn't memorize the contents. I don't know how I missed it because they've had it since Kings Day and I've been there three times. Perhaps the lesson learned is that it's wiser to look at the menu rather than order without one. The Twelfth Night Menu consists of four courses (including the dessert course) for $48. A bit pricey but if it's to Frank's usual standards, it'll be well worth it.
