Breakfast in Midtown

Good breakfasts in midtown east are fairly hard to find and relatively expensive... Here is the latest place I have found: Moonstruck is a coffee shop on Madison Ave. and 38th. Their french toast is excellent, some of the best I have ever eaten. Good coffee. Good bacon. And yes, pretty expensive; you will pay in the neighborhood of $10 for your breakfast.

I don't recommend the "Lox Benedict" -- it was quite tasty but did not live up to the visions of deliciousness which the dish's name conjured up when I read it. Specifically the poached eggs are cooked too hard; and the lox, which should be raw, is not.

Going back there on Sunday (we are taking Ellen's parents there for brunch for her father's birthday), so I will find out more...

Also -- there is a French cafe across the street called Chez Laurent; they have very good coffee and pastries and wretched attitude.
