I just bought some chicken thighs and a very good quality grocery store here in Istanbul. It was like an organic nice brand, and I was really surprised when I opened the package of the three chicken thighs, there was a really bad smell.
I looked at the chicken to see if something was weird, and when I turned over the chicken thighs, I saw a dark red meat thing that looks like liver or kidney or some thing, stuck to the chicken thigh. It’s at the back of two chicken thighs, and it seems to be the source of the bad smell.
What is this? Is this weird? Is it the chicken going bad? I haven’t cooked chicken in a while, and I don’t really cook it very much, so maybe this is normal?
I’m asking you experts because I don’t know if I should take it back to the grocery store! Would love to get your thoughts.
Here’s a picture, sorry it’s gross
