Boston hound seeks advice in Central CT/Southington

I drew the name of a an uncle I barely know in this year's family "secret santa" gift exchange, so I'm thinking of a restaurant gift certificate. He and his wife live in Southington. Any suggestions for particularly good places in this area? The cost guidline for the gift exchange is $50. I'd like a nicer place where two could have a nice meal and not have to kick in TOO much money beyond that. I know Hartford and some of its suburbs a little bit, and I know a bit about Waterbury restaurants, but I've never been to the Southington area, other than on I-84. Ideally I'd love a good, intimate restaurant, not one of the "big name" area chains like Max restaurants or Carmen Anthony. Does anything like this exist in this area? Any type of cuisine, except asian or indian...I don't KNOW that they don't like this type of food, but I have a hunch. Thanks in advance!
