No one was happier than I to learn that Blenheim apricots from the Orchard Heritage Park stand of about 800 trees managed by Charlie Olson are available for sale right now at Community Center in Sunnyvale. We buzzed down there on Tuesday. This expedition was even more special because we managed to catch Mr. Olson when he stopped by for a few minutes. William and I had attended the sad farewell in 2018 when the historic C J Olson stand shutdown. https://www.chowhound.com/post/cj-ols... He is indeed our hero.
The apricots are carefully graded and priced accordingly. Regular apricots are $5 per pound. Sunburned, Soft or Small grades are discounted a little. Dried apricots, jam, syrups and other preserved forms are also for sale at the stand and year-round. But the fresh apricot season is quite short and is expected to continue until at least July 10. To check on availability beyond that, call (408) 891-1753.
The farmstand is located in the parking lot of the Community Center. You'll spot the tents and signs point the way from the intersection. It is open from 8am to 6pm during the season. Cash only.
