Being a Southerner I had been exposed to B&W cookies from time to time but never taken them to seriously...most were more kid-oriented with that paste-thick icing and cookie that is dry and breaks up. So I didn't quite get it when the discussions would pop up here. (I travel to NYC a lot for work so like to know what to look for foodwise when I get here)WELL today I think I had a good, maybe a great B&W cookie. There is a new NY deli down here in Virginia, Florimonte's in Williamsburg, where I stopped in for lunch today. The owner had the accent but I didn't get to ask him where he was from.
So I order a sandwich and soup and as they ring me I see the B&W cookies and grab one of those too.
Well, it was thick, much thicker than a typical cookie. The consistency was cakier-than a cookie but cookier-than a cupcake. The white icing tasted sort of like fondant and the chocolate just plain yummy. I was only going to try a few bites but ended eating the whole big thing...and it was mighty yummy.
So New Yorkers...is this it...is this what y'all crave?
