A recipe called for black sesame seeds. Not being familinar with them but living in an area where the white sesame or benne seed is used alot I was intrigued to try this recipe. Went on line to a spice merchant and purchased the seeds. To me they seem slightly smaller and not as oily and there white brethern. Also not quite as flavorful. The recipe was an Asian Slaw receipe. I have also tried them in other dishes but they turn potatoes and onions dark grey. Does anyone have more information about Balck Sesame Seeds?
