Black Olive - Orlando

Had a really nice meal at Black Olive recently. The layout and setting of the place is really nice, and the parking garage in the condo's behind it are very convenient.

To the food. Started off with the mussels in light tomato sauce and grilled octopus with parsley, lemon, and capers. Both were very good, just wish the mussels came with some bread to sop up the sauce. Only thing available were the cheese crositini, which were fine for the table, but didn't soak up any liquid (kind of tasted like gourmet cheese nips).

We then shared the wild mushroom open face raviolis. Nice bechmel sauce with pine nuts and parm reg cheese shavings. Really nice dish overall.

Entrees were the grilled bronzini with a very mediterranean mix of olives, cucumbers, feta, etc... Second entree was veal and lobster napolean with a mushroom risotto and a beurre blanc sauce. Both entrees were huge, and after two apps and a pasta, either of us could finish everything. I prefered the fish dish b/c it was light, yet full of flavor. The veal, while fine, just got lost in all the heavy flavors and the dish got a but glumpy after a while.

For dessert we shared the zepolines with chocolate sauce. Still wonderfully warm, this was a great way to end to meal.

Dinner for two with a few cocktails each, glass of wine each, and espresso and after dinner drinks was about $240 (including tax and tip). Overall a very nice experience, and I would definitely go back.
