The Black Door

Had the $25 Prix Fix menu at The Black Door tonight. The beer list is great, wine list not so much. The space is awesome, it kind of feels like a cave. I started with 'The Smokin Blonde Mussels' which were PEI mussels in a leffe blonde cream sauce with smoked bacon, and tomato. I thought they were great, very smokey. For my entree I chose the Hoegarden chicken with asparagus and couscous, which was very good. It was cooked skin on, very crispy on the outside, very moist on the inside. The black olive couscous on the plate was terrible (imo) so I ignored that, the asparagus was grilled and perfectly cooked. For dessert I had the molten chocolate cake ala mode with berries. It didn't ooze chocolate like I expected, but it was very good.
Service was attentive but not overbearing.
Overall, a good solid meal. Not exceptional or exceedingly memorable, but for $72 (two prix fix, 4 beers) I will definitely go back.
