those dried ends of fresh black currants (NOT the stem end, the other end)--how do you get them off? Do you pick off every single one? Or do you leave them and let them cook out? Raw, they make the whole berry taste stalky and woody and pretty much over the hill.

or did I buy over-the-hill currants to begin with?
