My wife and I went to One Bistro on Rt 1 in Norwood on Saturday night and had a strange experience. Was wondering what the masses thought about it.

We had reservations for 6:45 and arrived at 6:40 and were seated right away. My wife started with the Crispy Thai Shrimp Spring Rolls and thought they were great. I had the Onion Soup Gratinee and it was very nice as well, not overly salty like most places. While we were eating our apps one of the chefs came out and introduced himself and chatted for a bit. He mentioned to save room for desert, so we told him how we had looked at the menu online at home and had discussed what we were going to have on the ride there. I said I was really looking forward to the ""Heavenly Creation" a warm chocolate molten cake served over crème brulee, and my wife was going to have the sorbet trio. For the main course my wife had the grilled swordfish and I had the fillet mignon. The fillet was great very tender and tasty. The swordfish my wife had was overcooked and way too charred for a grilled fish plate. The chef came back over to see how our meal were and my wife very nicely told him that her fish was too dry. He was very apologetic and made reference to making it up for desert. As soon as our plates were taken away they brought out our deserts which we were told were "on the house", but they were not "our" deserts. One dish was the chocolate molten cake without the crème brulee (another version they have), and they other was their special weekend "Tableside Desserts" sautéed cherries and plums over vanilla ice cream. It was very nice but it wasn't what we wanted. It was a very nice gesture, but seemed strange that they didn't let us order what we wanted and then put those "on the house", especially since we made a point of saying that we knew exactly what we wanted.

What do you think? Should we have said anything? Or just take the free deserts and go on our way (which is what we did).

Aside from the desert issue and the dry swordfish, we both said that we'd go back in a heartbeat. The wait staff was great and my meal was excellent.
