Birthday etiquette

Taking the girlfriend out for dinner for her birthday. She LOVES her birthday. I, on the other hand, am pretty low-key about birthdays, and I don't like a lot of fuss. Anyhow, I've made reservations for tonight, but when I called, I didn't mention anything to the restaurant about this being a birthday dinner. I just get this feeling like I'm asking for some kind of freebie, and I hate that. Conversely, when my girlfriend took me out for my birthday, the restaurant (Kinkead's) printed up a special menu with my name at the top and gave me a little gift when we left.

Should I feel weird about calling the restaurant and asking if they do anything for birthdays? I know she would enjoy anything special and extra, but I just like to keep it low-key. We're trying Oceanaire tonight, BTW. Thanks!
