I want to wow my boyfriend for his birthday.
We usually go to some michelin star place for birthdays, but last year our picks of Marea and Momofuku Ko were underwhelming. Eleven Madison Park one year was a huge hit. We've also loved Minetta and Spotted Pig, recently thought NoMad was cool but not really that special-occasiony, Babbo was good but they stuck us at a crap table and the sommelier was drunk, and my boyfriend has been requesting something with more spice (he's Indian).
I've been thinking about Jungsik or possibly Danji, although I don't like Korean that much. We've been to all the high end Indian places in town, love them all but need something new. He also mentioned Uncle Boons? He loves Thai food, we usually have to head to Queens to get decent versions of it. Some reviews weren't all that positive though.
I however have been tempted by the reviews of Carbone, sounds kind of awesome. Also - Atera? Think it's too late to try for Chef's Table in BK (bday is Jan 24).
