Yup, I know I'm a pizza snob, but to me, any pizza is better than no pizza; it's still pizza...I often get dough from Bertucci's or Brookline Spa and make my own, because I'm damned good(g)...But the other night, my dinner companion didn't wannah wait for me to do my chopping, sauteeing, oven heating,(and it was too late on a Sat.nite for the Brookline Spa) so I was a good sport, and went for the most basic, the margerita at the Brookline Village Bertucci's. I know it's a chain, but I've had pretty decent pizza at other Bertucci's .
Over the last few years, I've probably done this one 3 or 4 times...Each time, the pizza is pathetic...A flaccid, doughy crust, which is totally reprehensible since they have a freakin' wood-fired oven....They put the buffalo mozz on too soon, so it had totally melted, and crime of crime, no basil...Usually on the side, where it's dead and dried up (at this branch), but it wouldn't have even mattered here, nothing could rescue this. And, BTW, the place was dead, so it's not like they were rushed beyond control.
Yes, yes, I know there are Bertucci's that one can get a good pie at, but I just wanted to issue a warning, that this one is beyond the pale...Don't do it!
