My searching efforts for Berlin are coming to naught. All I turn up are posts for the [admittedly yummy] Hallo Berlin joints in Manhattan, which is not what I'm after. (For some reason, since this web site was reconfigured, my searches have turned up far less than they used to a year or so ago.)
Please, I would LOVE any and all advice on Berlin, where I'll be for a week. Places where you love to eat. Places where you love to buy grocieres, wine, other foods, as well as particular dishes you're fond of that I might want to investigate. I'm ashamed to be heading Germany-ward so soon, knowing so little about the cuisine there.
For a 2nd week I have open-ended plans to take a train from Berlin to Budapest, stopping in Prague, maybe Munich, elsewheres, and would appreciate any chow-advice to sop up along the way. Has anyone eaten at Gundel?
My partner and I are avid chowhounds but as we aren't packing suits/ties, places like Schwarzwaldstube and Bareiss in Germany are probably off limits (indeed, we won't have a car either). But any place that doesn't require a car/suit/tie is fair game!
