Berkshire Weekend

catnip | Dec 12, 2005 12:32 PM

We spent the weekend in Lee and Lenox,Ma. areas.
We stayed at the Super "8" motel in Lee.
Clean,affordable($55-$65) rooms with an outstanding helpful staff!
Lunch Friday was in the Tap room at the Red Lion Inn.
Great service and $10 hamburgers.
A bit pricy for lunch but great atmosphere and worth every penny.
The girls had salads tht they thought were great also.
Dinner Friday night was at Chez Nous, the old "From Ketchup to Caviar Restaurant" in Lee.
The chef and his wife bought the place and changed the name of the place.
The place was packed and having eaten there before we could see why.
The food is fabulous!!!
We had Shoulder Steak that was done to perfection.
The girls had scallops that were out of this world.
The blend of sauces made this the kind of place you just wanted bread and sauce for dinner.
Truly worth the trip!
Saturday the girls hit the Spa at Cranwell.
This is one of the nicest Spas they've been too(the other being at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid).
We had dinner at Verdura in Great Barrington that night.
I had read so many fine comments about Verdura at this site that we had to try the place.
Well the food was excellent, the service was OK,and the prices were way too high for the quality of the food.
Don't get me wrong, the food was great but you can get that same great food at places like Chez Nous,Cranwell Resort,Cafe Lucia, and many more places in the area for a lot less money.
I thought the place was way over-priced for what you get.
We had heard that Blantyre Castle was open for the Winter but the place was gated and locked up when we drove by Saturday night.
Guess what we heard was wrong.
Entertainment and late snacks(you can leave Verdura still hungry) were in order at the Red Lion Lion's Den in the cellar;about the only entertainment to be found locally two weekends before Xmas.
