Bee and Thistle

My wife and I have had excellent, interesting meals here in the past (e.g. fresh blueberry sorbets). Ate there Saturday night for the first time in about a year and was massively disappointed. A very standard menu (filet, scallops, lamb)without even the special - one - being particularly interesting, filet topped with a grilled fois gras.

The signature scones arrived tepid, at best.

I had a crab cake as an appetizer - really very good, no complaint at all. However, entree didn't show much. Good scallops, but a bland balsamic rice starch. No zest or interest at all. Plain white - not even a pretty plate.

Barb had lamb. It was good. But the pecan wild rice was literally that - pecans and rice, again no interest. The broccoli was literally that - green and steamed.

Dessert was a pumpkin with a white chocolate ganache. Good, but very heavy - even more than rich.

Service was good, not great.

Not fair value at $100, plus tip, without wine.

I hope I hit it on an off night and there hasn't been a change in philosophy or kitchen. Same owners who were as gracious as always.

Any other experiences in last 6 months to a year?
