Bavarian Bread Company & Izzy's bagels

Stanley Stephan | Feb 24, 2003 09:19 PM

Searching for something else, I came across this link. Is it possible ... could it be ... REAL European style rye breads? Anyone tried this place in San Leandro? Is it worth the drive? They promise "We use 100% all authentic fourth generation family recipes!".

Or are they just toying with us? Is this just another tasteless mall type pretzel / bread place?

I'm annoyed that I blew a diet day trying an Izzy Brooklyn Bagel. It made Noah look downright ethnic. It's on 151 Townsend, a few doors down from the ballpark McDonald's. Yeah, like those McDonald's bagels.

An innovation that I've never seen before at Izzy's is that a coffee refill is eighty cents ... within the hour. Do people come back hours later for a refill?

Anyway, here's the Bavarian Bread link.
