Going to bat for RW @ Sibling Rivalry

Maybe I've got some funky taste buds going on (or no taste at all, which I doubt), but I had a really nice RW meal at Sibling Rivalry this week and, for all the abuse SR takes on this board, I thought I'd voice my approval. It was the first time I'd been there - I'm not the one who made the choice (with all the negatives on CH, I was planning to avoid it). Though the bar was jammed and noisy when we arrived and the maître d' unapologetic in his sheer snobbery, the meal was delish and the table service was super - Perfectly timed, though the place was packed, and pretty darn charming with a light sprinkling of humor. We all started with the squid which was tempura'd to perfection with a typical but tasty sauce on the side. I had the hangar steak for dinner and ruefully shared small bites with my companions at their request. I don't even like steak, but every once in awhile my iron deficiency gets the best of my appetite, and it arrives on my plate. These tasty little slices melted in your mouth and slid down smoothly coated in lovely and light parsley butter. Mmmmm. The blue cheese popover wasn't impressive, but the main event was the steak, so let's keep the focus on that. For dessert, I'm no chocoholic, so the Vanilla Parfait was just the thing, and I savored every bite. Unremarkable perhaps, but just the right thing at the end of a rich meal.

Glad to report that it was an all-around positive experience. Hope they'll keep it up.
