yet another Bao 111 review

hello friends,

went to bao 111 last night.

4 people total in my party. we started off with 5 apps. they were the shrimp toast, spring rolls, calamari prawns, frog's legs and the beef rib.

of all these apps, my favorite was probably the prawns. they were prepped over a sweet sauce with a delicate julienned veggie mix with a little basil too boot.

as for the other apps, i just didnt think they were anything special. sure the presentation and preparation is truly unique as in the beef rib. it's just meat on a lemongrass stick. but what the food excelled in with presentation, it lacked in overwhelming my taste buds.

for entrees, we had the beef stir fry, the lemongrass crusted lamb chops, red snapper and i believe the 4th was fried shrimp.

let me just say that the entrees completely outshined the apps. this i know is unusual but was the case last night. i ordered the red snapper and it was amazing. the whole fish was brought out but the actual meat of the fish was fileted, cubed and lightly fried then glazed with a sweet type of sauce. the fish was then covered with a tomato, red onion medley. this dish was definitely the big winner last night. it was fantastic and i highly recommend it.

in 2nd place was the lemongrass crusted lamb chops. yummy is all i can say. soft and tender was the meat and the seasoning made it really a spectacular dish.

the beef stir fry. what can i say about beef stir fry? it was really good. that should be enough.

as for the fried shrimp, i didnt even get to taste any because my snapper was so damn good.

we got one dessert as well. it was the black rice pudding. i liked it but my 3 companions were not that keen on it. go figure.

i would definitely go back to this restuarant and sample some of the other fares on the menu.

also note that the service was great. our waiter sent us a few complimentary drinks. that's always nice.

that pretty much sums it up. hope this can help someone out.
