went to bambou last night for the first time in a while and was hapilly surprised to see that they've kept the same island vibe, but really upped the quality of the food in terms of inventiveness and taste -- all we got was the huge app sampler (something that I would never normally do, but was urged to by the very nice bartender, who is the owner's son). There was jerk chicken that was some of the best that I've had -- full of fresh ginger and a very nice spice, there were some of the biggest New Zealand green mussels that I've ever seen in a solid cream curry sauce, fruit, salad, a morel mushroom dish that was unlike anything other and a nice sweet roti that I loved. This place is somewhere that I've always wanted to love because of the great vibe, but I could never recommend it because I thought the food fell a little short. I now love it all the way. Stayed long after the meal chatting with the bartender and chef who were both really enthusiastic about the new menu and the coming carribean brunch and sunday high tea -- overall a very nice experience and one to watch in the future.
