Avoid Café Tibet in Berkeley

Dennis in Berkeley | Apr 27, 200304:26 PM

We read about Café Tibet on Chowhound, and were feeling adventurous. Unfortunately, it was a complete bust. The oat chicken soup had fresh spinach and peas, which was a nice surprise, but it was bland and the peas were un(der)cooked. The beef momo had wrappers that seemed old, almost reheated. The vegetable curry was a melange of carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli -- standard side-dish fare with an uninspired spice mix. The mushrooms at least added a little interest. My partner has had gastric distress for the past two days that we can't guarantee Café Tibet is to blame for, but odds seem very high. With the student atmosphere, the non-bargain basement prices, and Plearn just a few doors away, there's nothing to recommend this place.
