I was visiting Chicago about a month ago, and had a very enjoyable dinner at Avec (after some good references here ).
I'm a hound from San Francisco, and looking for good, interesting food, preferably downtown - I'm happy to walk or take a taxi but don't want to go to the burbs.
Am open to all kinds of food, and generally have enjoyed many places in Chicago in the past. I'm looking for something that you'd consider unique or interesting that I might not find in SF. And no pizza please.
I may go back to Avec again, but I do have three nights there and would welcome other ideas.
Also, if there are breakfast/coffee places downtown that would be a good alternative to Star****s I'd love to try some good coffee and pastries!
