I found a good new restaurant - El Salvadorean, but I can't remember the name. Next time you are feeling sassy and are thinking of eating with gringos at El Azteca, go right across the street to a little place tucked away (just to the right of HEB that is on Pleasant Valley and E. 7th).
I had mojarra frito - a whole tilapia (head and all) that was scored, roasted, and topped with onions that were sauteed in achiote. Came with rice, salad, tomato, and a lot of avocado slices. Someone else had the marisco' soup - a seafood soup-shrimp, fish, calamares, scallops, mussels, crab, clams...it was spicy and had a seafood and coconut milk base.
Both were excellent and about 10 bucks each. They have several El Salvadorean beers to choose from, including Pilsener and Reggia.
