Auntie Emme's in Eagle Rock

I've posted on this place a few times in the past, mostly in response to other poster's questions. They went through a change of ownership a year or so ago, and the quality of their soups went down. Or maybe not down, but off in some lateral direction that I don't like. The shift in the soups was from hearty staples to fancy gourmet styles, and where the previous owner's soups had an earthy, masculine richness, the new soups are thin and baroquely seasoned, and not nearly as satisfying to me. At least, that's what I've said in the past, so I feel responsible to say something now that my mind has changed.

Today, I had their Turkey Sausage Gumbo. The server assured me that it's very authentic, which I doubt, but then I don't care about authenticity. This soup was fantastically tasty, with huge, chewey chunks of sausage and chicken meat. It had a bite to it, but wasn't overly spicy, and the turkey sausage was actually more to my liking than alot of pork sausage I've had. Needless to say, I'll be trying this place more as the winter marches on.
