Went back to Overtures last night with friends and happy hubby. This time I order a la carte, although the others loved the $20 special menu choices.
The lobster and diver scallops with a white wine sauce caught my attention.($13) Then it came, and really bowled me over. Half of a lobster tail was poised partially outside of the shell; three large scallops were dusted lightly dusted with a nutty crust; just the right taste and texture on the sauce. Visually stunning; fresh taste, not overcooked; divine. HOpe no one saw me licking shell and scraping plate.
After that the hazelnut crusted sweetbreads were a bit of an anticlimax. NOt quite as creamy as I was hoping, not quite enough sauce, but really yummy just the same. Dessert tart with apples, warm caramel sauce, puff pastry crust was perfect. A really lovely experience all around.
