Antica Pizzeria Lafayette Reporte

Just did a business lunch at Antica Pizzeria in Lafayette. This may sound silly, but my guest and I did not order Pizza because we are trying to watch our waist lines, we read in the Chronicle review that other dishes were just as good

We started out with the Antipasti plate: the dish consisted of marinated seasonal vegetables, potatos, peppers, beets, onions, and "house made" Mozarella. The dish was excellent, especially the potatos, but pieces of the Mozarella bordered on string cheese consistency.

Three of the menu items were out; I chuckled when the server came back three times after we ordered to tell us that they were out of the various items. I told him jokingly, "Whats next, you guys will be out of water?" . The waiter said they were slammed over the weekend because of the mostly positive review.

After three tries, both my guest and I settled on the Taglitelle with pork ragu. The fresh pasta was great, but the sauce was just ok, the pork meat in the sauce tasted old, like it had been left over from the nightbefore, then nuked before being thrown in the sauce.

I'll give the place a couple more tries, but if the food is insconsistent, then it is doomed because Chow Lafayette is right down the street.
