Two Amy's / Bucks report

Friday was a day of gustatory excess with lunch at Two Amy's and dinner at Bucks. Quick reports on both follow.

Two Amys was good BUT their slightly spacey service is starting to drive me insane (that, AND their stingyness with the freakin bread - we had to ask for extra bread about 3 times). It can take forever to get a servers attention even when its not busy.

Anyway, we had, goat cheese app and the meatballs - meatballs were excellent as usual. We also had the battered deep fried mussel special, three mussel 'kebabs' - be still my heart - a wonderful, wonderful start to the meal.

Pizzas were ok - the margerhita was probably the worst one I've had there as one half of the pizza had no toppings - norcia was quite good

for dessert we had an excellent blood orange panna cotta and the almond cake

We also had a most enjoyable meal at Bucks - I started w/ a smoky mushroom soup that I intially found a little too sludgy but it grew on me. Wifey had the mozarella w/ their 'world famous' pesto which I've had before and was as good as I had remembered.

I had shrimp and grits w/ a lamb sausage which was tasty but was gone in about 5 bites so I was a little hungry. I should have had the steak which was oh so good.

Dessert was a chocolate fudge cake - delectable.

A note on service at Bucks - given that Greenwood had issues in this regard I would like to note that in our 4 trips to Bucks service has always been good. Case in point: on Friday night as the 4 of us were winding down our meal about 1/4 bottle of wine remained - at some stage the bus boy took it without asking if we were finished. When I mentioned it to the host, our waitress immediately came over, apologized and reappeared a few minutes later w/ a new bottle of the wine and poured both of us a glass gratis. A NICE touch. We will be back.
