Amici Brentwood (short review)

Went for lunch at Amici Brentwood yesterday.
It's right at the SE corner of 26th & San Vicente.
I really like the room. It's a big room, light and airy, with lots of windows, high ceilings, exposed brick walls, white tablecloths, light-wood tables, and soft colors throughout. Don't much care for the major pieces of art on the walls, but it's got a nice neighborhood feel.

Dad ordered lentil soup and special green salad with shrimp. They served the shrimp salad first and it got raves: mostly arugula with plenty of grilled shrimp on top, coated in a yummy dressing. Soup took much longer to arrive but they hadn't forgotten about it; it actually was served fresh, with tons of basilesque chopped spinach atop the dark lentils. Also well-received.

I had the artichoke salad with shaved parmesan and lemon vinaigrette dressing. Dad asked "Tastes like straw, doesn't it?" -- he's had it at the original Amici -- but I thought it was okay for a very light lunch. I also appreciated the marinated diced tomatoes and hummus served with the bread basket.

Prices are reasonable. Service was not great considering only maybe eight to ten tables were in play at the time: took a while to get our food order taken, took a while to get the check and have our plates cleared. Decent enough lunch place, I'd say, but no rush to return...
