Alfred Schilling has lunch!

Missy P. | Mar 25, 200312:04 PM     2

There haven't been any detailed Chowhound reviews of A.S. yet (SE corner of Columbus and Broadway), but now we have to opportunity to try Schilling's food for a little less cash--they're now serving lunch. I hope to try it in the next week. Sneak preview: spinach salad w/ smoked salmon and capers ($6.50), roast pork loin with a red wine and chocolate sauce ($9.50), fried chicken liver with bearnaise, potato salad and frisee salad ($6.50), osso buco with fettuccini ($12.50), croque monsieur/madame ($5/6). Yum! They seem to need the business.

Incidentally, I just had a fantastic almond croissant from A.S.--flaky but a little chewy. I hope the croissant experts out there will try this and let other hounds know what they think.
