Advice on Ice Cream Makers

Because of the high yield capacity, I'm leaning toward one of those buckets that holds in the ice that surrounds an inner canister type ice cream maker. If anyone has experience with one of these I'd love to hear advice/warnings. Also just as an estimate, how much in general would a 4 quart batch cost, cream, sugar, rock salt and all, assuming ice is free? The amount of rock salt needed at least would be helpful. Also can you make ice cream, gelato, and sorbets with this? I've heard other machine have setting for each and with the one I'm considering only having one setting is that an issue? Any help would be appreciated,
