Have reservations for a friend's Birthday dinner there tonight after a year of hearing great things about Sara Jenkins' pasta dishes...then did a quick search on chowhound and was dismayed but some recent posts...

"according to the NY Times, Sara Jenkins has left 50 Carmine. They don't say who the new chef is, so if you're thinking about going, keep this in mind."
"i wouldn't be surprised if she has been gone for a few weeks, because i went at the beginning of the year and after a so-so pasta started, the two meat dishes were inedible. truly awful. had to have a second dinner across the street at blue ribbon bakery."
Anyone been there in the past 3 weeks and can verify these posts? If the situation is still the same, anyone have any other good Italian alternatives in the area and similar pricewise?
