Having a craving tonight for Chinese food with some "zing", and it being too late to leave our (normally culinarily boring) Upper East Side neighborhood, we decided to give this previously (in my experience) less-than-memorable Sichuan place another try.
Well, tonight we ordered six dishes. Three of them were so-so (the hot & sour soup, sichuan pickles and herbed spring bamboo shoots), but three others were absolutely DELICIOUS! I *highly* recommend the:
1) Hand shredded chicken with spicy sesame vinaigrette (on the "Cold Appetizers" section of the menu)
2) Shredded pork w/spicy garlic sauce (on the "Meats" section of the menu), and
3) Sauteed prawns with roasted chil- & peanut (kung pao)-- with the caveat that tonight, as a special, they substituted scungili for the prawns.
These latter three dishes were as tasty as any Chinese dishes I've had anywhere, and my girlfriend-- who's Chinese-- and a great cook, to boot-- agreed.
