We have 4 days in Oahu, Kailua specifically, after a jam-packed 3 days on the Big Island. I’ve outlined some options, but am very aware we might say f’-it and detour as needed.
Would appreciate some help with one downtown/Waikiki dinner, a North Shore lunch/dinner, and Kailua dinner.
Will probably have breakfast in our airbnb since we plan to stop at Foodland when we arrive OR face the crowds at Cinnamon’s. Planning to stay close at Kailua Beach Park/Lanikai Beach that day and take it easy/snorkel.
For dinner downtown, I’m debating between Alan Wong or The Pig & the Lady. The latter is near The Manifest. The former, Pint + Jigger. Ugh, decisions, decisions!
House Without a Key looks terribly touristy, but wondering if the overall experience is worth it? If so, maybe drinks there first, then dinner elsewhere, then more drinks?
Squeezing in the North Shore via Kawela Bay & Waimea Bay. For lunch, which would you pick of Giovanni’s Shrimp truck, Grass Skirt Grill or Cafe Haleiwa?
Might successfully bypass all resorts on this trip, but is anything at Turtle Bay good for dinner? Mind you, we’ll be coming after a day at the beach so formal wear might be rough.
Otherwise, I’m thinking we’ll hit up Dean’s Drive In back into town.
On our last day, I’d like to stick close to home: Waimanalo Beach Park, then Lanai Look Out, and Uncle Clays for a pre-lunch snack. Then Diamond Head hike (inc. fresh pineapple at the bottom!) and Rainbow Drive-In for the husband. Or we could reverse and do Diamond Head first and then work our way back east? I think a bus goes this route that I need to look into.
In case we don’t want to eat in our last night, any Kailua dinner recs? Kalapawai Cafe? I’m pretty sure we’ll have our fair share of burgers at this point, but have bookmarked Teddy’s Bigger Burgers just in case.
Thanks so much, we’re terribly excited!
