The $6.95 lunch special comes with soup, appetizer, entree and drink.
The lady at the counter didn't speak English, but soon a waitress whizzed by and showed me to a table. As expected, the menu is broad, but the lunch special card is thankfully brief, with only about 12 selections.
Small cup of egg drop soup comes first. It is thick and contains a few corn kernals and green onions. Quite soothing, and a good start.
Next comes the appetizer. This was a plate of sliced fish cake covered with thick fresh sliced kelp and a sweetish sauce over the top. Given that it was the appetizer for a $6.95 special, it was quite generous.
I selected the noodle potage with pork as my entree and it comes in a large bowl. The broth, if you want to call it that, is very thick and viscous, almost like a jelly. But it was well-prepared with nice flavoring. The noodles were angel hair thickness, and the texture indicated they were fresh. It was delightful to bite into such a tender noodle. There were julienned carrots and other veggies in there, along with the pork, which was ground and prepared like irregularly shaped oblong meatballs. I really enjoyed this dish.
The drink was puzzling to me. It was iced jasmine tea, which I liked very much. The puzzling part was that it was sealed in a disposable plastic cup, but it had ice cubes in it. I'm not sure how they keep the ice cubes from melting without freezing the whole cup.... As you can see, my world is quite simple in that I get to worry about things like this.
