Miami — Nobu Matsuhisa, NOBU Miami
When he moved to Los Angeles from Japan in 1977, Nobu Matsuhisa spent a decade working under other sushi chefs. In 1987, Nobu opened his first restaurant, named Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills, which quickly became a popular celebrity hangout. With the help of business partner Robert De Niro, Matsuhisa opened NOBU restaurants in 17 cities across the United States (including Miami) and in dozens of countries around the world.
