A dark chocolate bar with sea salt was a vacation revelation to Terri C, who says, “Who knew that chocolate and salt would taste so good together. Since my return, I’ve been craving the two flavors.” Lots of hounds are in love with this flavor combination and whip up goodies featuring the two ingredients.

paulj suggests a Spanish snack: toasted bread with bittersweet chocolate, olive oil, and salt. CHOW’s Chocolate Mousse with Olive Oil and Flaky Salt transforms the snack into a sophisticated dessert.

Hounds are big fans of Dorie Greenspan’s world peace cookies. “The sea salt in them gives a burst of flavor when you least expect it,” says TIRGL. David Lebovitz’s salted butter chocolate chip cookies include salted butter and “a good amount of sea salt,” says PBSF.

Adding caramel really takes the chocolate and salt combo over the top. This sweet and salty chocolate cake is filled with salted caramel and whipped caramel ganache, and topped with fleur de sel.
