Ginger tea. Tom Hanks. The music of Belle & Sebastian: These are all things one might describe as “calming yet vibrant,” and now we can add KitchenAid’s 2020 color of the year—Kyoto Glow—to the list. The soft electric green hue was just announced by the cult-favorite kitchen brand, famous for its stand mixer and other handy tools.

Color Corner7 Amazing Kitchen & Home Products in 2020's Color of the YearAs of today, you can get either a brand new KitchenAid Artisan Series stand mixer or the KitchenAid K400 blender in this glossy Kyoto Glow green. Either will go perfectly with a funky kitchen scheme inspired by Key West or Santorini. Plus you’ll save on energy costs since it’ll light up whatever room you keep it in.

Kyoto Glow’s name was inspired by the city of Kyoto, Japan which, according to a press release, “has long encapsulated the idea of balance and tranquility. In the spring, a time for rebirth and new beginnings, cherry blossoms flower in juxtaposition with the dramatic mountains, bringing a unique sense of balance to the region. Kyoto is now largely considered the cultural capital of the country and is known for its gardens and temples, as well as formal traditions such as Kaiseki—a type of culinary art that balances taste, texture, appearance, and color.”

Past iterations of KitchenAid’s color of the year include Bird of Paradise pink (2018) and last year’s Misty Blue. Check out the limited-edition Kyoto Glow KitchenAid appliances below.
