“The reason we’ve taken the number one spot is simple: We have amazing fans. We are eternally grateful to them for even allowing us to exist, let alone thrive,” said CEO and Founder, Justin Woolverton, in a statement. “Our promise to our fans is to maintain the quality they expect from Halo Top and, of course, to bring them some exciting new things in the near future.”
Thrive, indeed, as the low calorie ice cream company reported a 2500% increase in sales growth last year, selling more than 17 million pints of its 17 flavors. That’s a hell-of-a-lot of ice cream.
As Americans constantly search for healthier alternatives to everyday indulgences, the news comes as no surprise. Halo Top boasts a significantly healthier nutritional profile than its competition, with each pint containing only 240-360 calories and 20 grams of protein. It is also the first “healthy ice cream” company to use all-natural ingredients.
While we won’t be ditching our Chubby Hubby or Milk & Cookies any time soon, we do have to commend Halo Top for their success and overall commitment to quality. Many brands have failed to penetrate the oversaturated health food market, but with drool-worthy offerings like Red Velvet, Lemon Cake, Sea Salt Caramel, and Peanut Butter Cup, it looks like Halo Top isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
(We’re also really excited about Woolverton’s statement about “exciting new things in the near future.” Could this mean Halo Top popsicles, ice cream cones, ice cream bites, or ice cream sandwiches In the world of frozen grocery items, the possibilities truly are endless.)
