We had breakfast at Zina's this morning. It was our first time there and we tried it based on AmblerGirl's recommendation. We were not disappointed and will definitely be going back.
We ordered a provolone cheese omelet, a stack of pancakes, the crepes with Nutella and two cups of coffee. The omelet and rye toast were tasty, but the home fries were exceptional. Nice big pieces of potato, perfectly cooked, not greasy with enough golden brown on some of the sides to give good flavor and crunch. The pancakes were a bit thinner than I like but were tasty and were some of the better pancakes that I've had in the area. The crepes themselves had a nice texture and would have been even better with a bit more of Nutella inside.
Breakfast was $14 before the tip. Service was friendly. Mom (Zina ?) was doing the cooking and her daughter was our waitress.
While breakfast is not that complicated, until now we had yet to find a place that we would consistently go back to. After many less than satisfactory $20+ breakfasts for two, we had resigned ourselves to cooking weekend breakfast at home. Ray's Dining Car used to be our go to breakfast, but the omelets and pancakes just haven't seemed as good the past few times and the prices have gone up considerably.
