Zampone from Salumeria Italiana

GretchenS | Jan 3, 2008 01:56 PM

A big shout out to Salumeria Italiana for an exemplary zampone for the traditional New Year's Day dish of lentils and zampone (or cotechino). We had had their cotechino in the past (always yummy) but this year they ran out early and offered a zampone instead. (See link for explanation of difference.) It was FABULOUS! We agreed to get one of each next year to do a "scientific experiment" to determine which is best, but think it will probably be the zampone. The people there are also a joy and delight to do business with. Not sure if they will have zampone or cotechino again till next winter but worth a call and anyway there are loads of other yummy things there....
