Zach's Taverna

Teddybear | Apr 16, 200809:45 AM

Years ago I stopped going to Taverna on Pennsylvania Ave, but I still had fond memories of the appetizer sampler that used to be good, or at least I thought it was in the 1980s. Stopped by today for old time's sake, noticed new name and thought I'd take a chance. Wrong, wrong, wrong. There was plenty of food, more than enough for one, but the hummus and baba ganoosh (can't spell anything) were just ok, the tarasalata (again, spelling challenged) seemed very tired --and the garlicky potato spread (can't even try that one) was most unpalatable.. Also while they were generous with the pita (which was a a good thing since now you have to pay extra for it), it was not worth eating. Service was fine, outdoor seating pleasant, but I could have found much better ways to spend $12. So much for old times.
