I went with a friend of mine to ZA on Friday night, I've been dying to try this place due to the good words on the board, so I was thrilled when she wanted to go there. Anyway, they don't take reservations, but they do call ahead seating which is pretty convenient. We called at about 7 and got there around 7:30 and were the first to sit down once a table was cleared.
We each started with a "salad" from the specials board and I put that in quotes because at least the ones we tried were not salads by general definition. My friend got an avocado, black blean, roasted red pepper, with jalepeno dressing (there were other additions, but I can't remember), but it came all combined in a cylindar form and was absolutely delcious! All the flavors melded perfectly together. I got a greek-type salad served on potatoes, and it was incredible and very interested being served on slightly chilled mashed potatoes. I know it sounds weird, but it was very tasty.
We each got our own pizza as we wanted to have leftovers to take home and share with our SOs. I ordered the fig, caramelized onion, gorgenzola, and truffle oil pizza and she ordered the chantrel mushroom, roasted garlic, and goat cheese pizza. We only ate a piece of each because we were so full from or "salads" but they were some of the most intersting combinations! I didn't taste hers, but she said it was divine and my fig pizza was a great combo (and reheated well btw). They had a couple other specialty pizzas and had many more salads on the regular menu as well. You can also make your own pizza which is nice for the people that aren't too adventureous with their pizza. The owner and/or Manager stopped by several times to ask about our food, he was great. We also split a bottle of shiraz and the total was 67 without tip (two salads, two pizzas, and a bottle of wine)
Overall, a lovely experience and I am dying to go back and see what other specials they cook up!!
