New York vs. Paris

michael (mea culpa) | Dec 27, 2001 11:14 AM

This past Sunday on "60 Minutes," Andy Rooney, America's self-appointed national curmudgeon was speaking less curmudgeonly than usual and instead chose to praise the resilience of New York and its denizens in light of the events of the last year. In the course of an otherwise obvious tribute, Mr. Rooney matter-of-factly stated that New York has more fine restaurants than Paris. Frankly, I've eaten many more meals in the City of Lights than in New York so I would say I'm not qualified to assess Mr. Rooney's claim, but I question it. What say you worldly wise Chowhounds?
