Yogurt Cake Questions

I've been experimenting with yogurt cake recipes. I like these cakes because they are not as sweet as many butter cakes I've tried. They can be also be easily flavored with different fruits and easily dressed up for company. But I'm not sure if I'm getting the texture right. They come out very soft, without a lot of crumb, and dense but not heavy. I like the texture but I'm wondering if the texture ought to be lighter. So, to all of the expert bakers, how should a good yogurt cake look and how should it taste? (FYI - I've used 2% Greek yogurt and plain low-fat yogurt. I've also tried both light olive oil and canola oil. I've also tried to remember cake basics like room temperature ingredients and not over-mixing.)
