New Years in Key West - Foodie Musts?

hookemhorns | Nov 27, 2010 09:28 AM

I'll be staying in the heart of Key West for a week over New Years (with parents, brother, and my boyfriend) and will have a car, and am wondering where the places a foodie MUST visit are?

I know Key West is a very touristy spot, so I'd love to go to as many reasonably priced local gems as possible. There's nothing I can't stand more than overpaying for a so-so meal so definitely want to avoid that. I've been to Key West before, but it was a long time ago and I'm sure a lot has changed!

I'm interested in cheap and healthy (salads, fish, etc.) spots for lunch, and I'm totally up for grabbing food from a truck or stand...the more exploring and off-the-beaten-path places the better! Open to all types of cuisine for dinner, as long as the food is delicious and prices reasonable, and would love to go to a few restaurants that have a nice atmosphere as well - outdoor gardens, patios, rooftops, sunset views, etc. Will definitely want to get a really good slice of key-lime pie while I'm there, a cuban meal, fresh delicious fish, and whatever else should not be missed!

The only two spots I'm fairly certain we'll be going to thus far are B.O.'s Fish Wagon and Blue Heaven. I know these questions are common on this board but hoping you can give some specific suggestions based on our interests. Thanks!
